Cut Resistant Gloves

Cut resistant gloves protect against blade penetration and sharp edge contact – but not all cut levels are equal. The choice between Cut Level B (5 Newtons) and Level F (30 Newtons) determines whether you're protected or over-protected. We stock EN 388:2016 certified options across the full range.

Understanding Cut Levels: What Actually Matters

Cut resistance is measured by the force required to slice through the glove material using a standardised rotating blade. Higher levels mean thicker, stiffer materials – which sounds better until you realise dexterity suffers. Someone handling metal stamping needs Level E or F. Someone in general assembly? Level C often does the job without sacrificing grip and feel.

The EN 388:2016 standard replaced the old 2003 version with new testing methodology and letter designations (B through F). This means older "Level 3" ratings don't directly compare – which trips up plenty of buyers ordering by memory rather than current specs.

Our cut resistant gloves conform to EN 388:2016 Cut Levels B, C, D, E & F, which have replaced the previous EN 388:2003 Cut Levels 3, 4 & 5 standard.

Cut Level Force Required Typical Applications
Cut Level B 5 Newtons Entry-level protection for general handling, packaging, light assembly, and warehousing where occasional contact with mildly sharp edges may occur.
Cut Level C 10 Newtons Moderate protection for light metal handling, automotive parts assembly, building materials, and general manufacturing with regular sharp edge exposure.
Cut Level D 15 Newtons High protection for metal fabrication, food processing with knives and slicers, recycling operations, and construction where significant cut risks exist.
Cut Level E 22 Newtons Very high protection for sheet metal work, automotive manufacturing, heavy construction, and environments with frequent sharp metal contact.
Cut Level F 30 Newtons Maximum protection for glass handling and manufacturing, metal stamping, heavy industrial metalworking, and extreme cut hazard environments.
